New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was taken into custody by police this morning. Hernandez, dressed in a white t-shirt and shorts, was led away from his home in handcuffs by officers. It was unclear what charges were being brought against Hernandez.
The arrest comes nine days after the body of Odin Lloyd was found near Hernandez's home. Police were investigating Lloyd's death as a homicide. Last week, FOX-25 in Boston cited a law enforcement source as saying that Hernandez and Lloyd were with two other men at a bar in Boston on the night of the homicide and left together in a vehicle driven by Hernandez.
ABC News last Thursday, citing an investigator with knowledge of the case, reported that Hernandez intentionally destroyed a home security system within his house and turned over a broken cell phone to police. He also hired a cleaning service to clean his mansion on Monday, according to the source.
