The state Senate has approved legislation requiring gun owners to lock up their weapons if they live with a person who is legally prohibited from owning a firearm. The requirement is similar to an existing law requiring that guns be locked up if children are in the home.
SB363 includes increased penalties if a person prohibited from owning a weapon finds an unsecured gun and uses it to injure or kill someone. The Bill now heads to the Assmebly.
