The percentage of jobless Californian's now stands at 8.5 percent. That's the first time in five years the state's unemployment rate is below 9 percent.
The numbers breakdown with the state adding the most jobs, 30,200 in the month of June.
Trade, transportation and utilities posted the largest increase over the month, adding 13,200 jobs.
Nationwide, the unemployment rate was 7.6 percent in June. The latest jobless rate means eight other states now have higher unemployment rates than California.
It puts the state's unemployment rate at its lowest level since November 2008.
