FPPC Files Lawsuit Against Firm Linked to Arena Ballot Funding
Posted Thursday, August 15th 2013 @ 3pm  by KFBK News

SACRAMENTO -- The Fair Political Practices Commission wants to know who is funding the group trying to get an up-or-down vote on funding the new Sacramento Kings Arena and they're filing suit to find out.

Sacramento Taxpayers Opposed to Pork, or STOP, has been gathering signatures to place the measure on the ballot. But recent allegations about who is funding the signature gatherers surfaced last week when it was learned a lobbyist was paid by a law firm coincidentally connected to the Maloof Family -- the former owners of the Kings.

FPPC wants to know where the law firm of Loeb & Loeb got $80,00 to pay a Tulare-based Olson Campaigns and $9,000 to political consultant Tab Berg. Once the suit is filed, a judge will decide whether Loeb & Loeb will have to disclose the funding.

Both consultants have since severed their relationship with STOP.
