State lawmakers are urging the President and Congress to work on comprehensive immigration reform. Salinas Assemblymember Luis Alejo says immigration reform is vital to our economy because 1 in every 10 workers in California is an undocumented immigrant. A USC study estimates enacting comprehensive immigration reform would result in a $16 million boost to the state's economy. A joint resolution passed by an Assembly committee yesterday now goes to the Assembly floor for a vote.
