SACRAMENTO -- The Sacramento Sheriff's Department has lost a K9 unit to stomach cancer.

Nisim spent several years with the department -- trained in explosives detection; working at the airport and on public transportation.

He had worked with Deputy Kenneth Robers -- assigned to Regional Transit's Police Services. Sgt. Jason Ramos says Nisim got sick last weekend and died quickly from his illness.
