Suspected Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro is pleading not guilty to hundreds of additional charges. The judge in his case ordered Castro to remain in custody.

A new indictment unsealed on Friday accuses him of more than 600 new charges.

They include two counts of aggravated murder for allegedly beating one of his pregnant captives to cause a miscarriage.

Castro appeared in court in an orange prison uniform.

He kept his eyes closed for much of the hearing and the judge told him repeatedly to open his eyes to show he understood the proceedings.

The judge made a point of giving a summary of all the charges Castro faces.
