Amazon and HBO are joining forces on a deal that will give Amazon Prime the exclusive rights to air some HBO series.
Prime customers will soon be able to watch HBO shows including "The Sopranos," "Big Love," and early seasons of "Boardwalk Empire" and "True Blood."
"It's surprising too, because HBO has never let its catalogue go out for streaming anywhere other than HBO GO, which has been a big marketing initiative," TV Guide Magazine's Matt Roush said.
"But I think it's kinda like a 'Take that Netflix,' is what this is really about too, and it also shows just how important Amazon is as a place to distribute ware like this," he said.
The first wave of content will arrive on Prime Instant Video on May 21.
