Anti-Brutality Rally at the Capitol

Anti-Brutality Rally at the Capitol
Posted Tuesday, October 22nd 2013 @ 5pm  by KFBK News - Joe Michaels

More than 50 families, a former California Supreme Court Justice and a former LAPD officer were among those meeting with lawmakers and attending an afternoon rally as part of the 18th "National Day Against Police Brutality."

One rally-goer was Jeralynn Blueford, whose 18-year old son, Alan, was killed last may.

"As parents we're here demanding accountibility for the murders of our children."

She described the events that ultimately left her with the task of burying, Alan,

"The police officer was supposed to have his lapel camera on, he turned the camera off, chased down my son, my son was yelling, he did not do anything.  He falls down, the police officer stands over him and fires shots into his torso..."

She wants officers to be required to wear cameras that can't be turned off or erased, and hopes for stricter hiring practices.
