Elk Grove's Bid to Expand Denied by Planning Agency

The City of Elk Grove won't be getting any bigger anytime soon.

A bid to expand its boundaries by 30 percent was denied Wednesday by a planning agency.

The Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission voted against the city adding 8,000 acres to its south.

Commissioners were concerned about the impact the expansion would have on the environment and farmlands.

Elk Grove city officials had argued they need the land for future growth and attract new businesses.
