A local man reportedly got the attention of detectives with an online ad he posted. Now, he's been arrested and charged with trying to have sex with a young girl.

A 48-year-old man from Fair Oaks was arrested Tuesday by Placer County Sheriff's deputies after he came to Auburn for what he thought was a sexual rendezvous with a 13-year-old girl.

"It was actually a detective he was corresponding with these last few weeks. He thought he was talking to a 13-year-old girl, but he was not," Deena Irwin with the Placer County Sheriff's office said.

According to Irwin, Timothy Nosal, who works as an environmental scientist in Rancho Cordova, used his lunch to meet the person he thought was the 13-year-old girl at Ashford park in Auburn.

As far as cases like these, Irwin says a new detective has been working hard for the past eight months.

"He wants to catch these online predators, so he's focused a lot of his energy on this, and he's obviously doing a good job because this is the fourth arrest we've made," Irwin said.

Nosal has been charged with communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sexual act and attempted lewd and lascivious acts with someone under the age of 14.
