Five States Team Up on California Egg Laws

Five states are now challenging California's egg restrictions.

California voters passed a law in 2008 requiring farmers to keep chickens on free ranges, or in large cages. In order to keep California farmers competitive - a provision was added to apply the law to out of state producers as well.

Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Alabama have joined a suit filed by the Missouri Attorney general, which argues California can't tell them how to produce eggs.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris says those states can't tell California voters what types of products should be sold in the state.
