State agencies are working to determine how much water will be needed through the dry months to meet essential public health and safety needs while legally protecting threatened and endangered fish.

The Department of Water Resources and the Bureau of Reclamation are now gathering data to identify the amount of water that needs to remain in state and federal reservoirs to meet these needs.

They expect to complete their assessment by the end of March when projections can be given to water contractors.
