Hundreds of people will have their heads shaved today to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Heads will be shaved, tears will be shed and -- more importantly -- lives will be saved thanks to donations made to those who will lose their hair for the cause.
The event is put on by Keaton Raphael Memorial, a Roseville-based organization providing financial, emotional and educational assistance to children battling cancer and their families.
Last year, their events brought in more than $600,000 and shaved more than 1,000 heads.
Tonight's ceremony will take place at deVere's Irish Pub in Sacramento from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
A similar event took place in Davis over the weekend.
