The state now has better than $263-million to work with thanks to a law passed just over a year ago which requires Internet retailers to pay sales tax on purchases made by California customers.  Bob Jimenez with the California Board of Equalization said that's a big number,

"It's a sizable amount, and an important amount."

Jimenez continued to say online retailers are coming around and complying with the law,

"...but they saw the light and it's actually a win-win for them, and everyone else." tried to overturn the law in its original form in 2011, however it backed off when lawmakers agreed to come up with the compromise law we have now.

45 retailers are currently sending in the sales tax.
