Two Washington lawmakers are sounding the alarm over California's lack of water.
Valley Democratic Congressman Jim Costa and Senator Dianne Feinstein have penned a joint letter to Governor Jerry Brown and President Barack Obama over the lack of rainfall and short supply of water in California.
They're asking for drought emergency and disaster declarations to mobilize resources.
Water storage levels are already at their lowest point since the drought of 1977.
Water allocations from the State Water Project are just 5 percent of normal for 2014, unless there is a drastic change.
Costa and Feinstein say Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared such emergencies in 2008 and 2009 to get drought relief for struggling farmers and to obtain help from the federal government.
