Two schools in the North Highlands area have been placed on lock down after shots were fired -- possibly on school grounds.

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department placed Pacific High and Kohler Elementary, both located near Don Julio Boulevard, on lock down after residents reports hearing shots fired around 10:40 a.m.

Deputies arrived on scene and found shell casings at the rear of the school and saw someone running southbound on Dundee from Nova Scotia.

Witnesses reported seeing several young people involved in some kind of disturbance.

No one has been shot and there are no reported injuries.
