Spending a lot of time every day looking down at your phone or other electronic device can be a pain in the neck, and it turns out can do quite a bit of damage.

"That can lead to degenerate disc disease, which is irreversable.  Bone spurs start to grow, people get pinched nerves or herniated discs and that can lead to really intense pain," said Dr. Andrew Bang, a chiropractor with the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Bang said your neck should have a nice, gentle "banana-like" curve. If you lose the curve, you could be in for "text neck."

If you're worried about your own bad habit, changing your posture and holding your phone up at eye-level are simple ways to avoid potential long term damage.
