Part of the solution to California's drought may be found in the Pacific Ocean.

Dr. Amy Childress, a professor and director of Environmental Engineering at USC, said that it's important for the state to find a drought-proof water source, and the sea, being next to California, is a natural place to consider.

She says seawater would go through desalination, an osmosis process that removes the salt.  Childress says desalination is a viable solution because it's becoming less costly and more environmental friendly.
