A campaign to end homelessness in the Sacramento region debuted Tuesday at the Capital Christian Church in Rosemont.

Give One Day asks the faithful to donate one day of a month's rent or mortgage to help the homeless get off the streets and into housing, training and placement programs to turn their lives around.

Keith Hart with Sacramento Steps Forward, says the Give One Day Campaign received a major contribution toward their goal of raising a quarter-million dollars.

One prominent Sacramento family has already donated $50,000 to kick the campaign off.

The campaign was announced by Mayor Kevin Johnson, Bishop Sherwood Carthen of Bayside of South Sacramento Church, and Capital Christian Church's Pastor Rick Cole.
