A Kaiser Sacramento nurse is returning to her native country to help in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.

Lyn Tirona will join a second team of registered nurse volunteers heading to the Philippines to provide medical support to victims of the strongest typhoon to ever make landfall.

Tirona, a mother of two, grew up in the island nation where she worked for nine years as a firefighter and received her nurses training. She leaves Saturday.
