It all began more than 30 years ago, and the penultimate chapter of this story ended with convicted serial killer being sentenced to death by a judge in Marin County.

In September, a jury recommended the sentence for Joseph Naso following his August convictions of the murders of four women between the late 1970s and mid 1990s.

Judge Andrew Sweet followed the recommendation of the jury at this morning's hearing at which the 79-year-old Reno man continued to proclaim his innocence.

Authorities caught up with Naso during a probation search of his Reno home in 2010.
