A Southern California Sriracha hot sauce factory that has come under fire regarding the odors emanating from its facility will remain open for now.

A judge Friday said he would take the city of Irwindale's bid for a preliminary injunction stopping operations at the plant "under submission," but did not say when he might issue a ruling on the matter.

Irwindale officials have moved to have the plant shuttered following numerous complaints from residents that the chili odors coming from the plant are causing burning eyes, headaches and other issues.

Officials with the Huy Fong Foods plant say any shutdown would lead to higher prices for Sriracha sauce at your local supermarket in 2014.
