Their product is called "The GEEK," and investors are geeking out over it.

Last month Rancho Cordova tech firm Light Harmonic decided to use the fundraising website Kickstarter to gauge interest in a small amplifier for headphones.

"We set our goal for $28,00, in my heart I hoped for [$80,000]," Vice President of Sales Gavin Fish said.

Fish says they raised over $300,000, and now its time to start production.

"On Monday, we will get our first samples that are finished," Fish said.

The GEEK, will sell for $100 bucks, and Fish promises it will dramatically change what you hear.

He says it is very, high-end and sweet sounding. It is 25 times more powerful than the standard headphone output on a laptop.

It should be ready to ship in January.
