A new study says people would stay at their jobs longer if their boss showed a little more appreciation.

The survey by Glassdoor spells out a number of reasons why people will quit a job to go to another. And the main incentive isn't always money.

"What are the factors that play into making people at work? And the interesting outcome of that was that being appreciated was one of the most important things to people when it comes to happy they are in the workplace," Glassdoor's Allyson Willoughby said.

Willoughby says employees who feel appreciated stick around longer.

And a major way of showing employees appreciation?

Money -- a pay raise or bonus -- leads the way. Also, unexpected rewards such as thank you notes, or being given snacks, lunches or dinners is another way of showing appreciation.
