U.C. Davis has reached a $1 billion fundraising goal -- a whole year early.
The university kicked off what's called the "Campaign for U.C. Davis" in 2006 and since then more than 102,000 people have sent in donations.
"Every gift from $5 from a student to a $100 million grant," Sarah Cowell with Alumni Relations said.
Cowell says nearly half of the money will go toward student and faculty scholarships and research, a share will go towards patient care in the health system and a new nusring school and another chunk for some long-awaited construction.
"A new art museum on our campus is breaking ground in March," Cowell said.
More than half of donations came from California.
