University of California President Janet Napolitano proposed a tuition freeze today for the 2014-2015 school year.

Speaking at her first Board of Regents meeting, Napolitano said officials will consider what's called a "cohort tuition" where students are assured that what they pay when entering college won't dramatically change during their four years.

The idea is in line with funding proposals from Governor Brown that would increase the systems funding as long as tuition doesn't spike.
