I found some footage of the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989.
I was actually down in the Bay Area when this quake happened. Our recreational soccer team was about to kickoff when all the sudden we started rolling. It was like the ground with moving in waves. I just thought I was world's youngest stroke victim or something until I saw my portly opponent start bouncing around, then eventually hitting the ground. We all plopped down on the field and waited out the movement. Shortly after the rolling stopped one of the dads said, "Ok, let's kick off." I scored my first goal this day. I had no clue that the earthquake was big until my mom picked me up and said there was a lot of damage around the area.
- Calvin and Hobbes creator Bill Watterson is interviewed by Mental Floss. Interesting interview if you like to know how the brains of a creative type works in bite sized chunks.
